Balance Speech and Behavior specializes in providing high quality services for individuals who may not be adequately served by other common approaches to ABA therapy in New Mexico. Most of our staff have more than 3 years experience in the field as well as advanced training and certifications to deliver high-quality and compassionate support. Often, individuals who have complex medical or psychiatric needs, a history of trauma, those who are adolescent or adult age, or people who engage in dangerous problem behavior are not adequately served by “everyday” ABA agencies.
Balance Speech and Behavior seeks to provide specialized and individualized support with an emphasis on helping the individual achieve a greater quality of life across all settings. With compassion as our core value, Balance Speech and Behavior staff build supportive relationships with the clients, their care team and their families.
Balance Speech and Behavior is owned by Melisa Santacroce, M.S. CCC-SLP, BCBA. Melisa completed her Masters of Science in Communication Disorders from California State University at Northridge in 2011 and worked as a Speech Language Pathologist. She then completed coursework and fieldwork to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in 2014, joining a group of fewer than 400 professionals in the world who have both as SLP and BCBA credential.
Melisa has worked in ABA centers in New Mexico since 2014 across all ages. She has utilized Skills Based Treatment (SBT) with individuals with severe and dangerous problem behavior and is currently conducting research on this method. The Balance Speech and Behavior team are developing innovative ways to use the science of ABA to support adults on the spectrum to design and utilize a circle of care to move closer to their goals and create a higher quality of life for themselves.
